Woman Who Boycotted NFL For Offending Her Values Now Spends Sundays Binging Game Of Thrones
Linda Franklin gave up on the NFL 2 years ago when players began kneeling during the playing of the national anthem. As a red-blooded Christian American she felt like she could no longer support an industry that tramples on her values and convictions.
“I have standards,” explains Franklin. “I just couldn’t sit there and support a group of over-paid athletes trampling on the things I hold dear. Whatever you take in you will eventually become. I wouldn’t disrespect the flag of this country, or the soldiers and law enforcement members who fight to keep us free. Now I don’t watch any of the games, and I don’t buy any of the gear. I asked myself, ‘Would God want me to spend my time and money on something that is so disrespectful to our Christian heritage?’”
Linda had to change her habits. She had watched football on Sunday afternoons ever since she was a little girl with her dad. “I knew I had to do something else with that time on the Lord’s Day. So I checked out this show called Game of Thrones. I was hooked. I’m actually binging on it. Aside from the prevalent vulgar language, excessive violence, and nudity, it is actually a very good show. Isn’t it great how when you give up one thing for God and country, He gives you something better to take its place?”
