5 Year-Old Fined For Not Pledging Allegiance To The Christian Flag
After the NFL's controversial year where protests took more media attention than touchdowns, the whole nation is getting in on the action. The NFL has recently stated that it will fine those players who protest various causes by not standing during the national anthem. This is sparking similar codes for all sorts of organizations, including Grace Christian Academy in Stephenville, Texas.
Yesterday Darren Dappernickel was fined $5.00 for not reciting the pledge of allegiance to the Christian flag. Darren is a 5 years-old kindergartner at the school. The chapel speaker reported him to the school authorities after he simply stood there not saying a word.
Suzie Dappernickel, the boy's mother says that there is a logical explanation for the incident. "Darren is new here. Our family is Methodist. The pledge to the Christian flag is apparently a Baptist school thing. This was Darren's first day of school. He wasn't protesting anything. He literally didn't know the pledge."
The story has received national attention with the president of the Christian Academy Association saying that if a child wants to protest the Christian flag, he should probably move to another country.
