Shocking Video Shows Police Officer Using Radar Gun To Shoot Innocent Drivers
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is calling for an investigation into police officers it claims are using radar guns to catch speeders in cities all across America. ACLU spokesman William Pharell says, "There are innocent citizens all across this country who are being stopped and ticketed for speeding, and we believe law enforcement officers are using technology to gain an unfair advantage in dealing with the issue."
According to the ACLU, the use of radar guns is causing a hardship on innocent people who happen to be caught going above the speed limit. "We have videos," states Pharrell. "It is hard to believe that in 2018 this is going on, but we have video of officers sitting in their patrol cars behind buildings and among shrubbery, waiting to catch someone driving recklessly. And they have these radar guns aimed right at the drivers. Sure, they catch guilty people in the act of speeding. But they are also shooting thousands of innocent people who are driving safely and within the law every day with these guns. Once again, the police are obviously out of control."
The ACLU is considering filing a lawsuit against law enforcement agencies across the nation. Legal counsel for the ACLU, Maryann Howell explains, "It is a clear form of discrimination. They only use the radar gun on people in motor vehicles. In the last 30 years, there has not been a single instance where a police officer has ticketed a pedestrian or cyclist for speeding. It appears to be a clear case of 'pedestrian privilege'... and it is not right."
