Planned Parenthood Endorses Donald Trump Ahead Of 2020 Presidential Election
The leading abortion provider in America has come out early to back President Donald Trump in his 2020 re-election campaign. The endorsement from Planned Parenthood came out just as Trump’s most recent Supreme Court justice, Brett Kavanaugh sided with the group to protect their government funding.
After weeks of debate behind closed doors, Kavanaugh, who was touted by Republicans as the man to help overturn Roe v. Wade, joined the Liberal wing of the court to turn down appeals backed by 13 conservative states that sought to defund Planned Parenthood.
President of Planned Parenthood, Dr. Leana Wen, says that perhaps the abortion organization misjudged President Trump as a pro-life candidate in 2016. “We were under different management in those days. I know a lot of evangelicals were declaring that Trump was a Christian, and the second coming of Christ, and would work hard to break the back of abortion. But it just hasn’t been true. Trump was pro-abortion before he wanted to be a Republican candidate. So his roots are with us. We haven’t lost a dime of support from the government. We now have replaced a conservative justice with a liberal one. We should have never doubted his commitment to our cause. I think we are sitting pretty. Planned Parenthood is on the Trump train.”
For his part, President Trump explained, “You know… in a campaign you say a lot. Newcomers brag that they aren’t politicians. They make promises. They break them. No one is better at breaking promises than me. Okay? I mean, I am truthful. But I lie. And I lie bigly. Ask my first couple of wives. So now Planned Parenthood is learning that they can trust me to not tell the truth. I hope the evangelicals are paying attention. I’m with you. But I’m also with the people I’ve been with who are against you. It is a win for everyone. I knew Brett was the guy. Planned Parenthood didn’t. But they do now. I appreciate the abortion support just like I appreciate the pro-life support. I’ve been able to gain the support of both. No one has been able to do that.”
