Joel Osteen Releases 2-Day Bible
Many Christians have participated in a Bible reading plan. There are even Bibles that are formatted so that the person can read through the whole Bible in one year. This has become a popular way to read Scripture. Still, most Christians have not read through the entire Bible. Popular preacher and TV personality Joel Osteen recognized this.
“I know many people who have read my books multiple times,” said the best-selling author in a promotional video. “But they have never read the entire Bible. So I decided to change that. I thought to myself, ‘How many days a year will most people read the Bible?’ I think most people could carve out a couple of days a year. So I went through the Bible and basically edited out the parts that talk about sin, holiness, sacrifice, struggle, and of course those long lists of begats, and other hard to read parts. What I found was that once those sections were gone, we had a text that the average person could read in about two days. You’ve heard of the ‘One-year Bible.’ This is the ‘Two-day Bible’”
Gina Mathers, a long-time Osteen fan, and recipient of an advance copy of the Two-Day Bible is grateful. “I’ve tried to read the original Bible many times. But there are parts that are hard to understand, and believe it or not, much of the Bible is negative. With the Two-Day Bible, I can actually read through the whole Bible and be blessed at the same time.”
Not everyone is happy about this version of the Bible however. John Piper recently tweeted, “A 2 day Bible will produce 2 bit Christians.”
