Hundreds Of Thousands Of Federal Employees Join President Trump In Working WIthout Pay
When President Trump took office, he stated that he would not take a paycheck for himself. He claimed to be rich enough to not need the salary paid to a President. In fact, a President cannot refuse a salary. So instead, Trump has donated his salary to different departments of the government.
Little did Trump know in 2017 when he started working without pay that within two years he would be joined by hundreds of thousands of federal workers would follow his example. In December of 2018 he led a charge to shutdown the government. By the end of the month TSA workers, border patrol agents, and the entire armed forces, among other agencies were working without being paid.
“I’m a leader,” explains Trump. “I have been leading. I’m a great leader… possibly the greatest leader in history. I have worked selflessly for the country. Obviously the military and federal workers saw that and were inspired to do the same. Believe me… we are saving tax payers billions of dollars by not paying workers. No other president has ever had so many people work for nothing. A lot of people don’t know that. I said I was proud to shut down government. And these people… tremendous people… are proud to work for nothing, like I do. The rest of the country should be so sacrificial.”
