Democrats Eagerly Celebrate Holiday That Goes Against Everything They Believe In
It is Independence Day 2018. On this July 4th we celebrate America's 242nd birthday. On this date in 1776 some leaders of the American colonies signed a piece of paper that would officially give birth to what has become the greatest nation on earth. So today we take a day off of work, shoot off fireworks, and eat concession stand food to honor and celebrate the event.
Strangely enough, even Democrats stop their railing against America to celebrate the day. It is a difficult day for many, explains Chris Matthews, host of 'Hardball' on MSNBC. "For 364 days of the year we Democrats blast all of the things we find wrong with America. Day in and day out we try to show the culture that America goes against everything we believe. Then on one day of the year we break out the hot dogs and streamers to celebrate a group of white, rich, straight, gun-toting, english-speaking, border-enforcing, flag-waving, limited-taxation loving, Christian men, who started a war so that everyone could enjoy the freedom to live like they want with minimal governmental interference... all in the name and by the authority of God. I'm sure there is not another day of the year that more clearly opposes our core values. I'll bet you they didn't like aborting babies too. I don't know why we participate. Some of us do protest it by poking our thumbs in red, white, and blue decorated cupcakes. Not me... I like cupcakes. But some do."
"I don't understand it," says conservative TV host Tucker Carlson. "Could you imagine Republicans putting aside our belief about abortion and actually celebrating the anniversary of Roe v. Wade every year? Or imagine the NAACP celebrating the founding of the KKK every year? It's all just really weird. Either you believe things are wrong, or you don't. I suspect progressives don't really oppose America. They just like to protest stuff. But this cultural appropriation really needs to stop. If you don't like freedom, quit celebrating it."
In light of the conflict of interest, several Democrats, led by Maxine Waters and Chuck Schumer have proposed legislation that would scrap the national holiday and replace it with "Remembrance Day" on which Americans would apologize to everyone we have offended over the years. "In other words, we would make every American do on one day a year what we do every day," says Hillary Clinton.
