Church Couple Who Can't Afford To Tithe Donate To Border Wall GoFundMe Campaign
Marge and Hubert Crenshaw are faithful members of Church In The Way near Dallas, Texas. They are also Trump supporters. This combination has landed them in the news.
This week Marge bragged on Facebook about donating a “hefty amount” to the GoFundMe account set up to raise money for President Trump’s promised border wall. This raised some concern throughout the congregation. The church treasurer, speaking on condition of anonymity explains, “When I saw the Facebook post I was surprised. Being the treasurer, I happen to know that the Crenshaws don’t tithe. I know because we’ve had the discussion. Also, they are regularly at our pantry ministry seeking basic food. I just don’t think it is right to plead poverty and then pay for a wall they will never use. I do remember that they had no means to support a security alarm for the church last year.”
Marge understands why people have an issue with her choices. “I get it. They are just a bunch of Hillary lovers. And they are for open borders. They are just using our circumstances to beat us down. It’s just like the President said. It is a witch hunt. We go in for free food and they want to ask us about our income, where we spend our money, etc. It is like Robert Mueller is running the church. But at least we gave for better national security. I mean, think about it… Heaven has walls. I know because I saw a meme about it the other day.”
